Two men were killed and two youths were injured in a shooting Friday in the Israeli Arab town of Dir al-Asad in what appears to be the result of a feud between families.

Ahmad Sanallah, 29, and Hafez Senallah, 23, sustained gun injuries to their abdomen and upper and lower body. They were taken in critical condition to Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya and were later pronounced dead. The two men were relatives.

In recent months, hundreds of Israelis have staged protests against what they claim is police inaction amid the surging crime and gun violence in Arab communities.

According to data provided by The Abraham Initiatives NGO, an organization that works to promote equality between Jews and Arabs, 25 Israeli Arabs and six Arabs who were not Israeli citizens have been murdered since the beginning of the year. Nineteen of the victims were 30 years old and younger.
