One in 1,000 of Those Fully Vaccinated Contracts COVID-19, Israeli Data Suggests
Only 608 of 620,000 Israelis who received their second dose of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine were infected with COVID-19
A person fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with Pfizer's inoculation has a one in 1,000 chance of contracting the disease, data analysis released on Wednesday by an Israeli HMO shows.
According to the data, provided by Maccabi HMO, out of 620,000 Israelis who received their second COVID vaccine dose, only 608 contracted the virus. Most of the fully vaccinated COVID patients, Maccabi said, suffered from light symptoms or were asymptomatic.
Of the 608 who contracted the virus, 21 were hospitalized, and of those, seven had severe symptoms, three displayed moderate symptoms, and 11 had light symptoms.
Israel has inoculated more than 4.1 million people, or more than 45 percent of the population, with around 110,000 people receiving a jab on Wednesday.
More than 2.7 million people, or 30 percent of the population, have received the second dose of the vaccine.
