Israeli Army Releases Color Footage From Yom Kippur War on 47th Anniversary
Video includes shots of Suez Canal, air force operations during the war
The Israel Defense Forces Archives released clips of color footage of the Yom Kippur War to mark the war’s 47th anniversary.
“Most are being released for the first time, and with enhanced quality,” the archive said in its press statement on Tuesday.
The footage includes shots of the Suez Canal, air force operations during the war, people folding parachutes, visits to the southern front by the chief of staff and other members of the General Staff, and actor Chaim Topol performing for reservists.

The clips were found during the archive’s digitization project, whose goal is to convert all film footage of Israel’s wars into a digital format. This will both enhance the quality of the preserved footage and make it more accessible to the public.
