Palestinian Shot in Attempted Stabbing Attack Hours After Soldier Killed
The attempted attack, which occurred at the Qalandiyah checkpoint, took place hours after a soldier was killed in a stone throwing incident near the West Bank city of Jenin

A security officer shot and wounded a Palestinian man who tried to stab the officer with a sharp object Tuesday at the Qalandiyah checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, the Israel Police said.
The officer was unharmed and the Palestinian man was evacuated for medical care.
The incident occurred within hours of the killing of IDF soldier, Staff Sgt. Amit Ben Ygal, 21, of Ramat Gan. He was struck on the head by a stone during an arrest raid near the West Bank city of Jenin.

The IDF said a Golani Brigade patrol had entered Kfar Yabed, near Jenin, to arrest four Palestinians suspected of stone-throwing attacks and belonging to a terrorist organization. A stone hurled from a rooftop landed on Ben Ygal's head. He was rushed to Rambam Hospital in Haifa by helicopter, where he was pronounced dead. The IDF said Ygal had been wearing a helmet at the time of the attack.
Soldiers are undertaking a manhunt for the assailant who threw the stone, the army said, and have arrested suspects at the house where the attack occurred.
