Twenty-five cars were vandalized Wednesday overnight in a suspected hate crime in the Palestinian village of Ein Yabroud in the West Bank.

Star of David symbols and "Revenge" was spray painted on cars and tires were punctured. Israel Police said they opened an investigation. A forensic unit entered the village with protection from the Israeli Defense Forces.

A week ago, 150 vines and almond trees were vandalized in the Palestinian village of Deir Jarir, near Ein Yabroud. Star of David and "Price Tag" was spray painted there as well. The police say it is also investigating that incident.

Last month, similar hate crimes were reported in the village of Bateer near Jerusalem, where 17 cars were vandalized with "We don't sleep when our brothers are slain" and "Enough with the terror attacks" graffiti. Similar incidents took place in French Hill and Givat Ze'ev neighborhoods of Jerusalem.

Last year saw a steep rise in “nationalist crimes,” violence and property damage by Jews against Palestinians in the West Bank. In 2018, 482 such incidents had been reported, compared to 140 for 2017.

Violence by settlers and right-wing activists included beating up and throwing stones at Palestinians. More frequently, the offenses consisted of painting nationalist and anti-Arab or anti-Muslim slogans, damaging homes and cars and cutting down trees belonging to Palestinian farmers.
