The Israeli navy shot dead a 23-year-old fisherman from Gaza Wednesday, the Gaza Health Ministry reported.

According to the report, Nuaf Ahmad al-Attar was hit with live fire in his stomach on a beach in the northern Gaza Strip.

Earlier Wednesday, the Israeli army said it opened fire on a Palestinian man who threw grenades near the border fence in the northern Gaza Strip. The man, who was in the possession of a box cutter and a knife, was taken in for interrogation.

The incident comes a day after Israel and the Palestinian factions agreed to a cease-fire that would follow the agreement the two sides reached in 2014, a diplomatic source told Haaretz, after three days of hostilities between Israel and the Palestinians.

The Israeli army said it intercepted more than 100 rockets out of a total of 460 rockets and mortars that were fired from the Gaza Strip toward Israel since the round of violence began on Monday. The IDF said it struck over 160 targets throughout the Gaza Strip.

On Monday, a 48-year-old Palestinian man was killed when a rocket fired from Gaza hit a building in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon. Two women who were also in the building were seriously wounded. The Palestinians reported seven deaths as a result of Israel's strikes on the Strip.

The hostilities started on Sunday, when an anti-tank missile fired from Gaza hit a bus in southern Israel, seriously wounding a 19-year-old soldier. It was the first time that Hamas fired a Kornet missile against an Israeli target since the 2014 war that Hamas and its allies in Gaza fought against Israel.
