Shots were fired from Syrian territory at an Israeli drone in the Golan Heights on Thursday, hitting a house in the northern Israeli village of Majdal Shams.

The incident is an unusual one as the majority of shots fired from Syria toward Israel are errant. In this case, on the other hand, Syrian soldiers deliberately fired at an Israeli aircraft.

According to the Israeli army, no injuries were reported but the building that was hit did sustain damage. Military and police forces are searching the area. Apparently, machine-gun fire was shot from the position of Syrian soldiers attempting to hit the "Sky Rider" drone operated by Israeli soldiers near the border.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army said that Israel had attacked Assad regime targets near the Syrian capital of Damascus. According to the announcement, Israel attacked the facility from Lebanese airspace.

The statement claimed the Syrian air defense system intercepted most of the missiles. Official sources in Damascus also told Lebanese television station Al Mayadeen that the military intercepted Israeli missiles in the west and north of the city.

Sources close to the Syrian government said Israel had targeted a "research center" in the town of Jamraya, just north of Damascus – not the first such claim. The Jamraya Research and Information Center, a "scientific military facility" in the suburb northwest of Damascus is known to Western intelligence agencies as a Syrian military complex where the Assad regime has developed missiles, rockets and apparently also non-conventional weapons.
