WASHINGTON - Vice President Mike Pence will visit Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Egypt in December at the request of President Donald Trump, in order to promote the Trump administration's peace efforts.

Pence announced his visit during a speech on Wednesday evening in Texas. Pence said the visit will take place during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. During the visit, Pence will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Sissi.

Pence represented the Trump administration at a number of important events related to Israel since entering the White House. In March, he was the administration's top speaker at the annual conference of the pro-Israeli lobby group AIPAC.

He also spoke at an event of the Republican Jewish Coalition, an organization supported by right-wing billionaire Sheldon Adelson. In May, he hosted a reception in the White House commemorating Israel's 69th Independence Day, and next month he will participate at an event commemorating 70 years to the UN partition plan of 1947.
