One Wounded in Stabbing Attack by Jerusalem's Damascus Gate

At least one person was lightly wounded in a suspected stabbing attack in Jerusalem, on Sultan Suleiman St. by the Damascus Gate, on Saturday. The casualty was treated by emergency responders at the scene and the suspected assailant was apprehended.

According to emergency responders, the female assailant approached the victim, a 31-year-old man, by the Damascus Gate light rail station and stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife.

Israeli security forces in the area responded immediately apprehended her, and brought her in for interrogation. The victim was brought to Hadassah University Hospital, Mt. Scopus, Jerusalem.

In June, an Israeli Border Police officer was killed and several others were wounded after three Palestinian assailants armed with guns and knives carried out an attack at the same location. ISIS and Hamas both claimed responsibility for the attack, while the Israeli army said the assailants did not belong to a particular group.

Last week, a Palestinian stabbed and critically wounded an Israeli at a supermarket in the central Israeli city of Yavneh.
