An Israeli police officer was stabbed in the neck and lightly wounded in the central Israeli city of Netanya on Tuesday.

The assailant, a 45-year-old resident of the West Bank city of Tulkarm, was shot and wounded at the scene.

Police confirmed after an initial investigating that they believe the stabbing was politically motivated.

Tuesday is the second day of U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
