Large forces were deployed across southern Israel on Sunday following a security alert, police said. The special deployment was called off a short while later after police said the threat was lifted.

Earlier, dozens of troops were stationed along main routes, and roadblocks were erected. Police had urged the public to be attentive to suspicious people and objects, but no special instructions were given out.
