Police say it was a criminally motivated attack and the victim had racked up gambling debts and owed money to gray-market lenders.
The attack comes a week after Shai Shirazi, the son of crime boss Rico Shirazi, was shot to death in his car in Tel Aviv.
Police fear the death of Shirazi may ignite a new war among crime organizations, as the Shirazi family looks to avenge a killing that has dealt a tough blow to one of the country's main crime groups.
