A 26-year-old woman was badly injured in a stabbing incident on Friday night in Ma'alot-Tarshiha in the western Galilee.

The woman's father, aged about 50, was taken into custody after he arrived at the local police station and confessed to killing his daughter.

An initial police investigation revealed that other members of the family had been in the home at the time of the incident. Two of the woman's brothers were arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of failing to inform the authorities of the stabbing.

All three are suspected of attempted murder, conspiracy and assault and they will remain under arrest until Monday.

A Magen David Adom emergency team was sent to the house at around midnight on Friday night following the father's confession, finding the woman alive. They found signs of violence on the body of the woman indicating that she had been struck with a sharp object.

"When we arrived at the scene, we saw a young woman lying on the floor," MDA paramedic Hana Hamisa said. "Se was fully conscious with injuries to her upper body. We gave her first aid before evacuating her to hospital in serious condition,

The woman is currently in the intensive care ward of the Western Galilee Medical Center.
