Palestinian Teen Arrested in Jerusalem Stabbing Attempt, Israeli Police Say
Officers at Damascus Gate overpower teenage girl who pulled out knife when asked for bag check.

A 16-year-old Palestinian girl was arrested Tuesday morning at Jerusalem's Damascus Gate after allegedly attempting to stab Israeli police officers. No one was wounded in the incident.

Border Police officers who became suspicious of the girl approached her and insisted on checking her bag, they said. The suspect then pulled out a knife and tried to stab them but the officers were able to overpower her and she was handed over for investigation, police added.
On Sunday, a solder was lightly wounded in a stabbing near Ashkelon's central bus station. The assailant, Jamal Hassan, a 32-year-old Sudanese citizen, was shot and seriously wounded by a different soldier. Hassan later died of his wounds at the hospital.
On Thursday, a female Border Police officer, Hadar Cohen, was killed in a simultaneous shooting and stabbing attack at Jerusalem's Damascus Gate. Another female officer was moderately-seriously wounded in the attack allegedly carried out by three Palestinians armed with rifles, knives and explosive devices.
