Tel Aviv Bicycle-rental Program Tel-O-Fun Expands Into Ramat Gan Suburb

But stations are thin on the ground, for now.

The Tel-O-Fun bicycle rental program is expanding from Tel Aviv to the neighboring suburb of Ramat Gan, starting next week.

Eight stations have been installed in Ramat Gan, mostly running from the Ayalon Mall along Abba Hillel Street in the east and along Jabotinsky Street in the west. They include stations at the diamond exchange, the Ramat Gan side of the Tel Aviv Savidor train station (Arlosoroff), Elite junction, the B.S.R. towers near the Ayalon mall and adjacent to the Ramat Gan national sports stadium.

Bicycles checked out of a station in one city can be returned at a station in the other city. The stations in Ramat Gan were installed several months ago but were not stocked with bicycles until now.

Ramat Gan residents who register on the Tel-O-Fun website will also be entitled to the reduced rates that Tel Aviv residents enjoy.

Much of Ramat Gan will remain unserved by the bike share program for now, however. Riders located near the border with Givatayim may be able to find a convenient station there.

About a year ago, the Environmental Protection Ministry allocated 2.25 million shekels ($571,000) a year for the expansion of the bicycle rental program into the Tel Aviv suburbs.
