Three Israelis Wounded in West Bank Attacks; 3 Assailants Shot Dead

Palestinians say one killed in clashes after day of violence sees soldier wounded in car-ramming attack and Palestinian stabs two in industrial park.

Three Israelis were wounded in two different attacks in the West Bank on Thursday. In another incident, a stabbing attack was thwarted in the Hebron area. All three Palestinian assailants were shot dead.

A Palestinian stabbed two security guards in the industrial area near the West Bank settlement of Ariel in the morning hours. Despite their wounds the two shot dead the assailant, who was employed in the area. One security guard suffered moderate to serious wounds while the other was moderately wounded.

The Palestinian Health Ministry named the assailant who was killed in Ariel as Mohammed. Zahran, 23, from the nearby village of Kafr ad-Dik in the West Bank.

“We saw a young man and woman sitting fully conscious,” said a Magen David Adom paramedic at the scene. “The man had multiple stabbing wounds in his upper torso and the woman had a head wound,” he said.

The guards, both 24, were taken to Beilinson Hospital - the Rabin Medical Center.

Later a Palestinian was shot dead by soldiers at a checkpoint outside Hebron, after he tried to stab a soldier at with a screwdriver. He was identified as Iyad Jamal Issa Adyisat, from Yatta village.

Earlier in the day, a soldier was lightly wounded in a car ramming attack north of Jerusalem. A Palestinian driver crashed his car into a group of soldiers standing at the entrance to the Israel Defense Forces Rama base, near the settlement of Geva Binyamin, north of Jerusalem. The driver was shot dead.

Clashes broke out between IDF commandos and Palestinians during an undercover operation in the Qalandiyah refugee camp near Jerusalem Thursday afternoon. The IDF said Palestinians hurled rocks and firebombs, at the soldiers, and also fired arms, as the force was retreating. Two armed Palestinians were wounded, and two soldiers were lightly wounded, said the IDF.

The Palestinians reported that Bilal Omar Zayed, 21, died in the clashes. Ahmad Bitawi, the director of Ramallah Hospital, said he was hit in the head by a bullet.
