Father and Son Murdered in Ramle

A father and son were shot to death Friday on a main street in Ramle, marking the second time in two weeks a double murder has taken place in the central Israeli city. Police suspect the father, 55, and the son, 27, were killed as result of a power struggle between rival gangsters over the drug market.

Police believe the same feud has claimed a number of other victims, among them, two men found dead in a torched car near Ramle a year ago.

Last Tuesday a woman, 60 and her daughter, 28, were shot to death in their car near Ramle’s Nesher cement factory. A 20-year-old Ramle resident was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

Last June the bodies of two men in their 30s were found shot to death in their car in Ramle’s Muslim cemetery. The police suspected in that case that the two had been assassinated by organized crime after being lured to the site where they were killed.

A few days before, a 24-year-old Ramle resident was shot and killed on Bialik Street in the city. About six weeks before that, a 25-year-old man was shot to death during a brawl between clans in the city.
