A Palestinian was shot and fatally wounded in the Jewish area of Hebron on Monday, close to the Tomb of the Patriarchs, after attempting to stab a soldier. The assailant, a 19-year-old Palestinian, later died of his wounds. The soldier was not injured.

Earlier Monday, an Israel Defense Forces soldier was seriously wounded in a stabbing attack near Hebron; his Palestinian attacker was shot and killed. The wounded soldier, who was stabbed in the neck and other parts of his body, was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where he underwent an emergency operation and was reported to be on a respirator.

The assailant was named as Ra’ad Talgi, a 22-year-old Palestinian man from the village of Sa’ir, north-east of Hebron. He was shot dead by IDF soldiers close to the scene of the attack.

His final message on Twitter was a picture of a female terrorist shot dead recently in Hebron with the text, “Imagine that she was your sister.”

One Israeli was killed and 17 wounded in 11 violent attacks in the last week. Most of the attacks occurred in the West Bank, as opposed to the start of the current wave of terror, which was focused on areas within the Green Line.

On Sunday, an Israeli man was wounded in a stabbing attack on Highway 5, near the West Bank settlement of Ariel. The victim, 25, sustained moderate to serious knife wounds to his upper body.

The assailant fled the scene. A suspect was apprehended by security forces a few hours later.

The Shin Bet identified the suspect as Tamer Khadir, 26, a resident of Beita, a Palestinian village located near Nablus. He does not have a record with the security forces.

Earlier Sunday, an Israeli was moderately wounded in a stabbing attack at the Metzad Junction in the West Bank. The assailant, a Palestinian, escaped, and Israeli troops are searching for him.

Also on Sunday, a stabbing attack was thwarted near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, when security forces shot a knife-wielding Palestinian woman.
