The Israeli Medical Association announced Friday it would disrupt work at all hospitals for two hours on Sunday morning to protest recent attacks on physicians.
All medical activity will cease between 8:00 and 10:00 A.M. except for cases of emergency such as dialysis, urgent care, baby delivery and oncological treatment.
The organization representing Israeli doctors said in a statement that "an ugly wave of attacks by patients or their families against doctors began recently. This shocking and shameful wave of violence continues and most of the public remains silent. We will not be silent!"
The statement also called on medical employers and the government to take measures to protect doctors and other health practitioners.
