Probation officer fired after lying about meeting prisoner

A probation officer told a court she had met with a detainee at a detention center in order to evaluate if he could be released to house arrest, despite not doing so. Haifa District Court Judge Ron Shapiro criticized the probation officer’s actions and ordered that Mohammed Zeid, held in custody for three months, be released to house arrest, based on a new expert opinion. A district probation officer told the court that the probation officer’s conduct was unacceptable, and that she was no longer employed by the probation service. ‏(Eli Ashkenazi‏)
