The stone wall, built hastily as a buffer against the Roman legions, cut off the olive press from the neighboring town during the famous siege that took place in 67 C.E. “The olive press was built at the outset in a natural cave on the steep eastern slope,” says Mordechai Aviam, an archaeologist from Kinneret Academic College, who discovered and excavated the secrets of ancient Yodfat, in Lower Galilee.
