The talks on the demarcation of the maritime border between Israel and Lebanon began two months ago with cautious optimism on Israel’s part. But they now appear to have run aground. 
Israel blames the stalemate on a more rigid approach by the Lebanese and points to a series of contradictions in Lebanon’s position in recent years.
