“Late at night, the time that we had awaited for so long finally arrived. The time to fulfill the dream of reaching Zion the Holy Land.”

Thus begins the testimony taken by the couple Yagardo and Geto, who in 1988 embarked on the exhausting journey from Ethiopia, via Sudan, to Israel. Their excitement was overshadowed by the difficult route, which included “scorpions, snakes, wild animals, cold and serious illness” and left them “helpless, penniless, without food and drink.” They finally arrived – but without their 3-year-old daughter Adisa, who died en route from malaria.
