On Tuesday evening, Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman, accompanied by professionals from their ministries, came to the Prime Minister’s Office. On the agenda: the Defense Ministry budget for 2021-2022. In the background was a dispute between Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and Gantz on one side, and the budget department of the Finance Ministry on the other. The defense establishment was asking for an addition of between 4 billion ($1.2 billion) and 13 billion ($4 billion) shekels. Depending on who was interpreting the Excel sheet. (TheMarker said 13 billion.) Bottom line: Kochavi and Gantz were asking for 58 billion shekels.
