In 1975, journalist Tehiya Bat Oren published “The Liberation of Woman,” a book thought to be the first feminist manifesto written in Hebrew. “It hurts me to see my sisters naked in the pages of Playboy. It hurts me to see them ‘naked’ on beauty pageant runways. It hurts me to submissively launder men’s stinking socks,” she wrote.
