A survey conducted by the Israel Democracy Institute on how Israelis view the Israel Defense Forces ought to be a wake-up call for the military, and especially for Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi.

The most sensational findings relate to the army’s financial conduct and its treatment of conscripts. While the vast majority of Israelis have a positive view of the IDF’s operational capabilities and its moral conduct during wartime, most are troubled by its treatment of both its budget and its soldiers.
