A week before the Bennett-Lapid government buys itself an insurance policy, giving it basic protection from being overthrown for the next 17 months, the level of incitement ratchets up. Small wonder. To Netanyahu, this is a critical battle in a campaign which, according to him, may last three-and-a-half years. Failure means a lengthy, agonizing trek through the opposition wilderness, with Likud and its allies forced to content themselves with random victories in the Knesset over esoteric laws.
