Israel is planning to campaign against the U.S. sanctions on spyware firms NSO and Candiru by claiming they are vital to its national security and foreign policy, officials told the New York Times.

The sanctions imposed last week by the Biden administration came amid intensifying accusations that the Pegasus hacking software sold by the NSO group was used to spy on hundreds of journalist and human rights activists around the world.
