In politics, certainly in Israeli politics, no one gets any credit for good intentions, fairness, statesmanlike behavior, or for upholding agreements. That’s why Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who personifies all those things, will get hit in the election campaign whose first shot was fired Tuesday in the Knesset. And Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the “serial agreement violator,” as Gantz called him, in an understatement, is expected to win it.
