No less astonishing than the speed with which vaccines against the coronavirus are now being manufactured and distributed is the speed with which Donald Trump is disappearing from our life. For the first time, the outgoing American president is starting to lose thousands of followers a day on his Twitter account, which was one of his main conduits to dictate the world media agenda. Trump still lets loose occasionally with an intensive barrage of nighttime tweets, but they are increasingly devoted to his delusory allegations about how the election was stolen. Mum’s the word on the coronavirus epidemic, which is now killing 3,000 Americans a day – similar to the number killed at Pearl Harbor in 1941 or in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
