The violent clashes between young Palestinian men and dozens of police officers backed by water cannons, stun grenades and mounted police continued on Sunday night in the area around the Damascus Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City.

None of the journalists on the scene said they saw rocks being thrown at the police. The young men were standing around the police post there declaring “Allahu Akhbar” (God is greatest) and calling upon the police to open the recently installed fencing around the steps that lead down to the gate.
