The leaders of British and Australian Jewry have added their voices to the growing backlash against the World Zionist Organization for its role in attacks against progressive women praying at the Western Wall last week.

“I am extremely distressed by the notion that the WZO, a national institution with such an illustrious history, would have engaged in an action which is so antithetical to its values,” wrote Marie van der Zyl, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, in a letter addressed to WZO Chairman Yaakov Hagoel and Jewish Agency Board of Governors Chairman Michael Siegal.
