Dozens of members of the Bnei Menashe community gathered in Tel Aviv on Thursday to protest what they described as their “subjugation” to a private organization accused of serious abuses of power.

It was the first time that members of this community, who hail from northeastern India and claim descent from one of the lost Israelite tribes, have ever held a public protest. The Bnei Menashe began immigrating to Israel around 30 years ago.
