Bennett and Biden Got Off on the Right Foot. China Could Derail That

The relations between the new Israeli government and the U.S. administration got off on the right foot with a surprisingly quick congratulatory telephone conversation that President Joe Biden initiated with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett immediately after Bennett took the oath of allegiance at the Knesset. But in addition to issues critical for Israel, topped by the Iranian nuclear program and American military assistance, Bennett will need to demonstrate particular awareness regarding Washington’s expectations on the primary strategic issue from its standpoint: competition with China.
