After more than a year of relative quiet and stability in the Gaza Strip, Israel and Hamas are again on the brink of a military confrontation. Hamas, which gradually escalated its words and actions against Israel in recent weeks, fired seven rockets toward Jerusalem on Monday, in response to the clashes on and near the Temple Mount in which more than 300 Palestinians and 30 Israeli policemen were hurt.
