A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in a Ramat Gan apartment on Wednesday afternoon. Initial findings indicate it was an accidental shooting.

Aside from the girl who was killed, it appears another girl and the boyfriend of the victim, who serves in an IDF combat unit and carries a weapon, were present in the apartment at the time of the shooting. The boyfriend said he put his weapon down on the table with the piece in the barrel that blocks a bullet from entering the muzzle.

The soldier said that when he went to the bathroom he heard a gunshot, and that when he came back he saw his girlfriend was mortally wounded. His story is being checked by the police.

Paramedics were called to the scene on Hatzela Street at 3:15 P.M. and transported the girl to Ichilov Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
