The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the youth as Imad Hashash, a resident of the refugee camp. Hashash sustained a head injury and was pronounced dead at the Rafidia Hospital in Nablus.
According to the IDF, the soldiers and Palestinian residents exchanged fire at the site, with the residents also throwing stones and other objects. No soldiers were injured.
A week ago, four Palestinians were killed by special undercover Israeli forces in an arrest operation in the West Bank.
The four people were killed after the Israeli forces entered the refugee camp in Jenin to arrest a Hamas suspect, leading to armed Palestinians opening fire at them. Three other Palestinians were injured.
At the beginning of the month, six Palestinians were wounded during a confrontation between Israel police forces and Palestinians in Jenin, according to Palestinian media reports.
