Two Palestinians were shot after throwing an explosive device at soldiers at a West Bank checkpoint on Monday, the Israeli military said, with the Red Crescent reporting that one was killed and the other moderately wounded.

No Israeli troops were wounded, the army said.

The man who was killed was identified as 19-year-old Abdullah Faisal Abu Taleb from the village of Jalamah, a few kilometers away from the city of Jenin. According to Palestinian reports, the two Palestinians were riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident.

Last week, a Palestinian teenager attempting a stabbing attack at a checkpoint east of Jerusalem was shot dead by a civilian security guard. Palestinian reports named her as 16-year-old Samah Mubarak.
