A Palestinian man was shot on Monday by Israeli forces in East Jerusalem after an attempted stabbing attack near the Jabal Mukkaber neighborhood, police said.

The man, in his 30s, is in a serious condition and was taken to hospital after the incident, in which police say he attempted to stab Border Police officers.

According to the police, he ran towards a group of officers, holding a knife and pepper spray while shouting “Allah akbar.”

No police officers were hurt in the incident, which comes after a disputed attack in the West Bank earlier on Monday, where two Palestinians were shot by Israeli soldiers. According to the Israeli army, they tried to attack the soldiers.
