A Border Police officer shot and killed the assailant. None of the soldiers from the Kfir Brigade were wounded.
According to a Border Police spokesperson, the knife-wielding Palestinian attempted to approach the IDF forces when they identified the weapon. The Israeli forces subsequently chased the Palestinian before fatally shooting him.
A Palestinian was shot dead on Saturday after allegedly attempting to stab Israeli security personnel in a West Bank checkpoint. According to the Israeli military, the Palestinian was shot after charging security guards at the Jalama (Gilboa) Crossing with a knife.
On Saturday, Haaretz published that ten Israelis and at least 68 Palestinians were killed during the new terror wave that hit Israel last month, according to data from the Israel Defense Forces and Palestinian organizations. The IDF recorded more than 70 terrorist attacks in October, the majority in the West Bank.
The death toll among Israelis is similar to the numbers during the initial month of the second intifada in October 2000, when 12 people were killed. (The data from 2000 also included the last two days of September.) The death toll among Palestinians at this point is just over half (about 53 percent) the number of fatalities in the first month of violence 15 years ago, when it was 129 fatalities.
