Hakmat Amar, a 54-year-old businessman from Kafr Qasem, was shot and fatally wounded Saturday in his business on one of the city’s main streets.
He was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where he died early Sunday morning of his wounds.
Two weeks ago, his brother, Mustafa Ali Amar, and Mustafa’s son, Ala, were also shot to death, near the Kafr Qasem industrial zone in the luxury car dealership owned by the father. Another man, 63, was wounded in that shooting and was hospitalized in serious condition. Police are investigating how the two shootings could be linked.
The gunning down of Amar was the second shooting death in 24 hours in the Arab community, coming after Moataz Masri, a resident of Jaffa, was shot to death there.
Since the beginning of the year there have been 10 murders in the Arab community, three of them from Jaffa and three from Kafr Qasem.
