The Israel Defense Forces closed the Palestinian al-Huriya radio station near Hebron very early Thursday morning. The station regularly broadcasts content encouraging terrorism, said the IDF Spokesperson's Office.
The IDF also arrested singer Mohammed Barghouti Wednesday night, after he recorded a song praising Omar al-Abed, the 20-year-old Palestinian who allegedly murdered three members of the Salomon family in the West Bank community of Halamish in July. Abed was indicted last week.
“They said he surprised the army and burned Halamish, and know, settler, that we want to live. They said he crossed the fence with a knife in his bag, and when he made contact he stabbed the Zionists,” are part of the lyrics to the song.
Last month, the IDF raided the offices of Pal Media in Ramallah. The IDF Spokesman’s Office said the company was suspected of operating a radio station spreading incitement and documents and media materials were confiscated. The company, which broadcasts from a commercial tower in El Bireh, just next to Ramallah, provides photographic and editing services for many Palestinian and Arab media outlets, including the BBC, Russia Today (RT), France 24, al-Mayadin from Lebanon, and al-Quds news.
