Palestinian Teen Shot Dead by Israeli Army in the West Bank

Israeli soldiers shot at terrorist cell whose members were carrying flammable materials used to prepare firebombs, army statement said

A Palestinian teen, Mohammed Matar, 16, was killed Wednesday by Israeli fire in the West Bank village of Deir Abu Mashal near Ramallah, Palestinian reports said.

Two other Palestinians were injured by live fire, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The IDF's Spokesperson Unit said that Israeli soldiers "spotted a terrorist cell whose members were carrying flammable materials used to prepare firebombs near the Palestinian village of village of Deir Abu Mashal."

The statement added that in addition to Molotov cocktails, the group was laying tires on the road, intending to set them on fire and harm civilian vehicles passing through on a nearby road.

The army said similar attempts to carry out attacks have taken place in that area of the West Bank in the past.
