The indictment says Gilad and his teenage student conducted a prolonged intimate relationship both in and out of school, and during school trips and outings. He is charged with abusing his authority and the student’s dependence on him.
Gilad is also charged with obstructing justice. When he learned that the illicit relationship had been discovered, he pleaded with the student to lie and deleted incriminating correspondence between them, including intimate photos, the indictment says.
Gilad was placed under house arrest under the supervision of his mother and wife. He admits having prohibited relations with his student, but denies any physical contact with her.
