A driver injured 15 people on Thursday when he reversed into the outdoor seating section of a cafe in Bat Yam.

One woman is in a serious condition and the others suffered light to moderate injuries in the crash at the Aroma cafe branch on Bat Yam’s Rothschild Street.

Security camera footage from an initial police investigation shows the driver apparently losing control of the vehicle, which moved up onto a sidewalk as he was leaving a parking space.

The driver apparently did not have an Israeli license, initial findings suggest, but a person who was with him in the car before the accident told investigators that he held a U.S. license.

Cafe customer, Alex Gilzander, 56, said, “I was sitting at the cafe and didn’t notice anything. Then there was some shouting and a driver hit the accelerator hard and the car jolted backwards and I was hit and thrown into the air. I feel fine, I just have some pain.”
