A former employee of the Foreign Ministry is suspected of illegally visiting Iran before working there, police said Sunday.

An investigation by police and the Shin Bet security service found that the suspect, an Israeli student, spent a short time in Iran.

In a hearing on June 9, a court ordered the suspect’s release under restrictions. His case has been referred to the State Prosecutor’s Office so it can consider whether to file an indictment, police said.

Further details of the case have been placed under a gag order.
