An 18-year-old Palestinian was killed on Wednesday in clashes with Israeli forces near Ramallah, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

According to a report by Palestinian news agency WAFA, Thayer Khalil Yazouri was hit in the chest.

A spokesperson for the Israeli military said soldiers responded with rubber-coated bullets to a group of Palestinians who were hurling stones at the force in the Palestinian city of El Bireh.

Apart from Yazouri, Palestinian media reported that a 17-year-old teenager was hit in the leg. Several other casualties were reported, but their condition isn't immediately clear.

Palestinian security sources said clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers based at a nearby illegal settlement. The soldiers opened live fire at the Palestinians killing Yazouri and injuring another 17-year-old boy in the leg.

Earlier on Wednesday, Shireen Abu Akleh, a Jerusalem-based journalist for Al Jazeera, was killed by live fire during a raid by Israeli forces in Jenin.

These events come after a tense-filled period amid Ramadan clashes between Muslim worshippers and police at the Temple Mount, a series of deadly terror attacks inside Israel by Palestinians and near-daily raids in the West Bank by Israeli forces.
