Tal Spiegel is an Israeli graphic designer and chef patissier based in Paris who has made a name for himself for his Instagram feed - gorgeous pastry after gorgeous pastry, all matched to his colorful shoes.

Spiegel’s two loves are apparent from his Desserted in Paris Instagram feed. His photos show an artistically crafted dessert, often from one of Paris’s better-known patisseries, staged with an eye for graphic design. The background is meticulously chosen, and always includes Spiegel’s shoes.

Spiegel’s pastry photos have become a viral sensation, and his account has amassed nearly 35,000 followers.

Hidden deep among the images of pastries are a few shots that will be closer to home to fellow Israelis. They include a photo from the Hapoel Tel Aviv-Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer game popularly known as a “derby,” as well as a plate of yellow star cookies, which Spiegel says he prepared for a child’s birthday - and then realized that they look like Holocaust-era Star of David patches.
