An independent presidential candidate from Iowa is the highest polling independent in the U.S. presidential race for now - with polling at 9 percent in North Carolina, 8 percent in the crucial state of Iowa and 7 percent support in Minnesota against Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump - and many others.
- Donald Trump is center of attention in feisty first Republican debate
- When it comes to Jewish connections, Trump trumps his GOP competitors
The catch is that candidate - Deez Nuts - doesn't really exist - at least not by that name. The other problem is that the real person behind the fake candidate is also unelectable, not because of his politics, but because he is really a 15-year-old boy from Iowa and a sophomore in high school - and is not old enough to vote for himself either, reports the Daily Beast. You have to be at least 35-years-old to be elected president.
Brady Olsen is a farm boy from Wallingford, Iowa, who filed with the Federal Election Commission on July 26 to run for president of the United States.
Deez Nuts's poll numbers make the highest polling independent in two decades, since Ross Perot. To put things in perspective, Trump is polling at 40 percent in North Carolina, Clinton at 38 percent - and Nuts at 9 percent.
The poll involved was conducted by an issue polling specialist firm, Public Policy Polling, which is also known for asking frivolous policy questions. PPP said it received an email from Olsen to add Deez Nuts to their polling questions - and they thought it might be interesting and amusing, and agreed. Though Olsen was quite surprised by the results, it seems PPP was less surprised, saying any third party candidate against the big names would pull some 7-8 percent of the vote.
It also turns out that lots of people have the crazy idea of running for president - so far 585 candidates have filed the paperwork, though many seem to be false names - like Deez Nuts - and the list even includes a cat.
