Palestinians Say Pregnant Woman, Child Killed Following Israeli Strike in Gaza

Mother and daughter reportedly die after Israeli strike causes nearby house to collapse; Israeli army says targeted two Hamas sites following rocket fire.

Israel Air Force aircraft struck targets in the Gaza Strip early on Sunday after a rocket was launched at Israel. Gaza officials reported that a pregnant woman and a 2-year-old child were killed after the strike caused a nearby house to collapse.

On Saturday, an Iron Dome defense system intercepted a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip toward southern Israel's Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. In response, the Israel Defense Forces attacked what they said were two Hamas weapons manufacturing sites in north Gaza.

Several hours after the strike, the Gazan Health Ministry reported that a house near the site of the strikes collapsed, killing a 30-year-old pregnant woman and her four-year-old daughter, as well as wounding four other family members.

They are the 10th and 11th Palestinians in Gaza to have been killed since clashes erupted on the Israel-Gaza border on Friday.

It was also reported that there were several other failed attempts to launch rockets from Gaza toward Israel in addition to the intercepted rocket,
